Glenmore Lodge encourages our visitors to walk, cycle and use public transport where possible, as part of a healthy lifestyle and sustainable good practice.
Glenmore Lodge is 0.75 of a mile from Glenmore Village, 8 miles from Aviemore, 2.5 hours North from Glasgow or Edinburgh and 0.5 hours South from Inverness.
The pleasant walk alongside the forest takes around 20 - 30 minutes mainly on a gravel path/cycle track which runs beside the road.
From the bus stop opposite the campsite continue along the main road towards Cairngorm turning left at the road sign posted for Glenmore Lodge. Follow this road to the right until you reach the path/cycle track on your left after about 100metres. Continue up this path for half a mile until you reach Glenmore Lodge.
The reception entrance is reached by entering through the first car park.
The path does have a steep incline and is not lit at night.
Glenmore Lodge can be easily reached by an off road cycle track from Aviemore, around 8 miles.
From the railway station turn left, past the Esso petrol station and then turn left down a path which takes you under the railway. Turn right after 150m cross the river by the Old Bridge and onto the cycle path which runs alongside the B970.
The cycle path is a mixture of tarmac and then good travel track. At Badaguish the path does detour away from the road for a short distance before continuing past Loch Morlich and into Glenmore Village. Then follow directions as per walking. Road bikes should remain in the B970.
Note that there is a height difference of about 300ft between Aviemore and Glenmore.
Service number 34 leaves Aviemore from outside the Police Station and also from the Railway Station Interchange. Buses leave hourly from 09.15 hrs until 17.15 hrs and then again at 19.40 hrs. Please check www.travelinescotland.com for a current timetable as these buses vary their times in school term times. Journey takes around 15 minutes.
Taxis are available from outside the railway station and it will cost around £15 for the 10 - 15 minute journey.
From the South and North take the first exit signposted for Aviemore. At the roundabout take the third exit (from the North take the first exit at both) and proceed along the B970. Continue along this road until you reach the village of Glenmore where you will need to turn left at the signpost for Glenmore Lodge. Follow this road up to the right and continue until reaching Glenmore Lodge. If the first car park is full continue along the road and park in the second one.
The closest railway station is in Aviemore. This is on the mainline from Edinburgh/Glasgow to Inverness. The sleeper from London makes a stop in Aviemore.

There is a regular coach service from Citylink & Megabus from Edinburgh & Glasgow to Aviemore, also from Inverness to Aviemore.

The nearest airport is just outside Inverness. The airport website www.hial.co.uk/inverness-airport.html gives details of flights into Inverness. To reach Glenmore you will then have to get a bus or taxi into Inverness then either a bus or train to Aviemore.
We can arrange free transfers for those booked on courses from Aviemore Station to Glenmore Lodge on course arrival and departure days (Friday & Sunday only). Please contact us on 01479 861 256 to book in advance, subject to availability usual pickups are 17.20. For your return trip we do a drop off leaving the Lodge at 17.00. If you are arriving outwith these times you will need to get a taxi to Glenmore. Why not use the travel forum and see if anyone else is arriving at the same time so that you can share the cost of a taxi?
In an effort to help the environment and keep your costs down, we have added a facility on our homepage that will allow you all to compare where and when you are coming from so you can lift share. Most of our courses start and finish on the same days. We hope that you will make the most of the opportunity to share the journey.
Glenmore Lodge is superbly located for exploring the local area by bike.
If you are arriving by train for a course and require to be picked up (17:20) when you call to book your lift let us know that you have a bike so that we can send the appropriate transport to collect it.
